A number of activities can be freely used by towns and regions that are not our members yet. Our events are open to everybody, take inspiration from Healthy Cities and become one of them – as you will see, it is worth it!

Czech Healthy Cities welcomed three new members last year

In 2017 the municipalities of Bystrice and Cervena Voda and the municipal district of Prague 15 became members of Healthy Cities, Towns and Regions. At the end of 2017, the association totalled 130 members with regional outreach to 2152 cities and towns with 5,441 million inhabitants (52 % of the population of the Czech Republic).

A list of all Healthy Cities members is available HERE.

Participation, Healthy Cities Fora, Emotional maps…

Healthy Cities, Towns and Regions hold regular meetings for their citizens to discuss the most burning issues concerning the place they live. In 2017, the Healthy City Forum was held in 60 towns and cities with a total attendance of 4488 citizens. Another popular event are youth and school fora where pupils and students discuss the development of their municipality. As in the case of the “adult fora”, the outcomes of these public meetings are submitted to a municipal or city council which will address them further. The purpose of these events is to enhance interest in public matters across all generations. Also a promotional film was created to handle the topic of school fora, which totalled 29 in 2017.

Again in partnership with Palacky University Olomouc we have offered emotional maps to the cities and towns which hold these fora. Emotional maps build on the concept of GeoParticipation using geospatial tools to involve participants in decision-making. Cities and towns will receive their emotional maps in a regular office format or as a GIS layer. The possibility of creating emotional maps was used by 25 municipalities last year and it aroused widespread interest. Healthy Cities are going to offer this service to its members for free even in 2018.

Quality, Strategy, Management and Evaluation – We have a lot to offer

We have created and have been providing a number of practical tools and proven methodological procedures intended for municipalities and regions. We seek and offer: inspiration, ways to evaluate progress towards sustainable development and quality of life, methods how to set and manage required processes at local authorities, and how to properly implement strategic planning and management. In cooperation with our expert partners we help to develop innovative themes - in 2017 it was e.g. planning for health, climate change adaptation, culture planning and evaluation, quality of life indicators and benchmarking and many other topics.

Jointly with cities and for cities we have developed practical on-line tools such as real estate pasport, grant schemes, project evaluation in terms of sustainable development and much more…
